20 questions about Squarespace

I have chosen to become a specialist in Squarespace, a tool that makes working with digital communication fun. For over 20 years I have been developing websites, working on strategy and branding and experiencing many successes with my clients.

Investing in the right publishing tools is essential to the success of your websites. There are many to choose from, but if you're looking for a system that's easy for you to work with, reliable and secure - Squarespace is a good option. Below I answer a number of questions that many people have about Squarespace:

  • Squarespace is an all-in-one publishing solution with content management and CMS (content management system). It allows you to create websites, have external content management, register domains, sell products, create newsletters and much more.

  • It depends! Everyone has unique needs for their websites, but I think Squarespace works very well for both small and large businesses. As a Squarespace expert, I create the websites to fit the needs and complexity of the individual business.

  • Yes, it is possible, but there can often be problems with the format of the image and other challenges can arise. I recommend building websites from scratch rather than importing from WordPress.

  • Yes absolutely! Squarespace sites are hosted on their own robust infrastructure. Here they have full control over all aspects of the product. There are no third-party plugins running on their servers. Downtime is low and you can follow it at https://status.squarespace.com/

  • No platform can give a 100% uptime guarantee, but Squarespace's large server capacity means it can handle big swings - and popular websites - without a problem.

  • It depends on the quality of the website that has been created!
Squarespace has elements built into templates that make it easy to score well on search engines. Page descriptions, page titles, custom URLs, search engine friendly formatting and other important SEO elements are all easily accessible to Squarespace users. I design websites to ensure high search engine rankings and always use "best practices" when creating new websites. This is easy and inexpensive in Squarespace as key features are already built in and you don't need expensive plug-ins.

  • Yes! Squarespace has its own analytics tool called Squarespace Analytics where you can access traffic patterns, referral sources and other key metrics. I also install Google Analytics on the website through built-in integration to do more detailed analysis.

  • Yes, Squarespace has its own platform for email campaigns called Squarespace Email Campaigns. This is easy to get started with, but more importantly it is streamlined in use, as it only takes a few keystrokes to send out blog posts as newsletters.

  • Yes! 24 hours a day, 365 days a year. If you need support, Squarespace can help you when I can't. Magiska also offers a support contract, so you can be sure to get help for any challenges that may arise.

  • Yes, you do. Squarespace is a very user-friendly tool that makes it easy for companies to update content according to their own needs and the training aims to give you a good understanding of how to modify or insert new content.

  • It's easy! All you have to do is send an email to post@magiskadesign.se or call me on +46 (0) 733 02 92 02. Magical Design has a proven and good process that gives you great and selling websites.

  • This is due to the complexity and accessibility of the site. It usually takes 2 weeks from the time I receive the material, or have finished creating a graphic profile, until the website is ready. Here I include the work of optimizing the website for SEO.

  • I'll take care of it. I change the routing/DNS of the domain, and the websites are launched! You can also have multiple domains associated with the site, but one domain must be the main domain.

  • Yes. The content of the website is automatically adapted to mobile and tablet devices. When working on content in Squarespace, you can check if the page you're creating is mobile-friendly at the touch of a button.

  • Yes you can! The web shop is an integrated part of Squarespace, and is simple and user-friendly. Support for credit cards, PayPal and ApplePay, but not support for Swish/Vipps.

  • No, absolutely not. The big advantage of Squarespace is that you don't have to. Squarespace is an all-in-one system where all the "plugins", or blocks, as Squarespace calls it, are available at the click of a button. This means you don't have to deal with different plug-in providers. Here, everything is handled by Squarespace and that makes it easy for you as a user.

  • Squarespace has not made this number known, but we estimate that the number is between 8 and 10 million Squarespace-based sites worldwide. Squarespace is listed on the New York Stock Exchange.

  • Squarespace chose in 2021 to launch Squarespace 7.1, while continuing support for version 7.0. On version 7.1 more development is taking place and this version is well suited for simpler websites. If you need a more complicated menu structure, you can still use version 7.0. Squarespace will still have support for version 7.0. Because the product is technically based on different development and operating platforms, it is currently not possible to automatically upgrade from 7.0 to 7.1, but I have good tools for copying over content and this makes the upgrade job easy.

  • For all modern publishing tools, you have to pay a licence fee. Most of our customers have a Business license and the prices can be found on the Squarespace price list. Magiska Design also offers a support agreement and if you choose it, I will pay the license to Squarespace and invoice you for the license and support once a year. Nice and easy!

  • In Squarespace 7.1 you can choose the language of the admin interface. In 7.0, the admin interface is in English.
